Seeing is Believing

We are on a faith journey as individuals, as churches, as nations, and as a world. It’s often a winding road, with many being impressed be what they see.

Between 1877 and 1892, Marsh (left) and Cope (right) dug up tons of dinosaur bones in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and North Dekota. The frenzied competition for fame between these opportunists became known as the bone wars. Together, they discovered 136 new species of dinosaurs. The media sensationalized every new discovery. Dinosaurs were extinct, so why wouldn’t they be millions of years old? The public loved it. After all, seeing is believing, isn’t it? (Read more, also)

In 1904, Ota Benga was displayed in the anthropology section of the St. Louis World’s Fair in a cage with apes. Ota was a 4’11” pygmy with pointed teeth that had been brought to America from a slave market in the Belgian Congo. The media loved it. People were told that pygmies were an evolutionary link between apes, taller negroes, and white people. Pygmies hunted and negroes farmed. Millions of visitors were educated by the World’s Fair. In 2012, Andrew Snelling began a project examining folded rock strata along the Grand Canyon. This is documented in a highly informative DVD produced by Is Genesis History. Using electron microscope studies, Snelling shows that the folded rock was not brittle because it was soft when it folded. At the same location, hard lower layers fractured, and soft upper layers were sharply bent without breaking. Only a global flood could have done this. The media has been silent, but seeing is believing. (Read more)

The latest and greatest James Webb Telescope was launched in 2001. It was supposed to show us the farthest stars, which are the oldest stars, which formed right after the hypothetical Big Bang. Big surprise! It couldn’t find any early (PIII) stars. Instead, it found fully formed galaxies 200 million light years after the hypothetical Big Bang. The missing links are still missing. The media is having a hard time with it. Observation invalidates the theory of cosmic evolution. Seeing is believing. (Read more)

In 2005, Dr. Mary Schweitzer found soft tissue in dinosaur bones. No one can explain how collagen, hemoglobin, osteocalcin,3,4 actin, and tubulin could still be present if dinosaurs are millions of years old. The media is tongue-tied. Now, more and more scientists are looking for soft tissue and finding it. That means that dinosaurs cannot be millions of years old. Seeing is believing. (Read more)

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have SEEN; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended unto heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” -Jesus in John 3:11-13
